FAQ

What is Torque

Torque is pulling power, and is the twisting force created in an engine by rotating parts.

What about when I sell my vehicles?

You can simply sell the vehicle with the ECU changes we have made or, for a fee of £50 we can return to the standard settings.

What about my insurance?

We have to advise that you inform your insurance company and it is your responsibility to do so.  We can provide you and your insurance company with information with regard to the new setting made on the vehicles.  In nearly all cases we prevent the engine working harder than the standard setting for the ECU.  With speed and rev limiting applied to your ECU, you should actually present a lower risk to your insurance provider and may even see your premium reduce.

Will my engine be affected?

No.  Your engine will not be mechanically affected by the changes.  It will be be operating differently as our changes release potential from the original ECU settings.  In the case of speed & rev limiting the changes will extend engine life as it is working under less stress.

Will the ECU changes affect my DPF (diesel particulate filter)?

No.  DPFs are designed to self generate and need to be driven at higher engine speeds for a certain period of time to do so.  Any limits applied via a remapping procedure do not limit the engine in such a way that would prevent the DPF from regenerating.

Why don't vehicle manufacturers do this already?

They already do!  Most modern vehicles are electronically limited to prevent engine damage or high speed.  Most performance cars have an electronic speed limiter fitted before the car is delivered.  In addition manufacturers will use the same engine in a number of vehicles and will use the ECU to enhance, or restrict the power in line with the branding or model requirements.

Will ECU changes affect my service schedule?

No.  Actually it could extend them!  For LCVs with extended service intervals you may see a longer period between services.  This is because the engine (if rev limited) is not working to design tolerance and therefore is less stressed, which in turn means less wear and tear, oil and fuel consumed.

What warranty do you give?

We change nothing on your car other than the ECU software map.  However, if your manufacturer prevents you from making a warranty claim for any subsequent damage to your vehicles engine or transmission that can be directly attributable to the ECU changes we make, we will make good any shortfall in cover.

Will I lose the ECU changes if I disconnect the battery?

The remap is a software change and is hard coded to the ECU. This means that even if you disconnect the battery you will not affect the ECU changes we have made.
